The Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health (DISH) has directed that all the employers of industrial and commercial establishments, shops, factories, construction establishments and other public sector undertakings should declare a paid holiday to all their employees on April 23, the day of polling in Tamil Nadu. According to a release from S.Ananth, Director, DISH these also should include casual workers, temporary workers, daily wagers and workers who work on shift basis. The paid holiday is mandated under Section 135B of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
