Are you a registered voter in Tamil Nadu and preparing to cast your vote in the April 23 Assembly election? Still waiting for your latest Voter ID, also known as EPIC? You don’t have to wait — you can download your e-EPIC yourself.

If your name is on the electoral roll and your mobile number is registered with the Election Commission of India and linked to your EPIC, you can download your e-EPIC from https://voters.eci.gov.in.

Once on the portal, click on the ‘E-EPIC Download’ option. You can log in using either your mobile number or your EPIC number. After entering the captcha, you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number.

Enter the OTP to verify and log in. You will then be prompted to enter your EPIC number again along with the State where it is registered. Your name and Assembly constituency details will appear on the screen.

Next, you will need to complete a second authentication using another OTP sent to your mobile number. After successful verification, you can download your e-EPIC on your phone, tablet, or computer and save it for future use.

Officials have said that physical EPICs are being dispatched as quickly as possible. In the meantime, voters are encouraged to use the online option to access their e-EPIC.

Details in an e-EPIC

The e-EPIC contains details such as the elector’s name, a relative’s name (as provided during registration), gender, date of birth, address, and Assembly constituency. It also includes the part number and the name and address of the polling station.

Voters should note that the polling station details mentioned in the e-EPIC reflect the latest allocation at the time of download. Since polling stations may change, electors are advised to verify their polling station details in advance.

Is a Voter ID alone enough to vote?

The e-EPIC clearly states that it serves as proof of identity for election purposes, but merely possessing it does not guarantee that your name is on the electoral roll. Voters must check their name in the current electoral roll before every election by visiting https://voters.eci.gov.in.

It also clarifies that the date of birth mentioned in the e-EPIC should not be used as proof of age for any purpose other than electoral registration.

The e-EPIC is valid across India as long as the voter is enrolled in an electoral roll. It also includes a secure QR code that can be verified by election officials using an authorized application.
