Tailoring programme for tribal women from Maoist-affected areas concludes in Maredumilli

The 15-day tailoring training programme organised by Alluri Sitharama Raju district Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar as part of SARAL, a community initiative, concluded on Saturday (January 10, 2025) at the Youth Training Centre (YTC) in Maredumilli.

The programme held with the objective of providing self-employment opportunities to unemployed tribal women from Maoist-affected areas was organised under the aegis of the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) from December 27, 2025, to January 10, 2026.

The SP recalled that as part of the SARAL, in the first phase during March 2025, 106 tribal women belonging to surrendered Maoist families and backward villages were provided tailoring training at Araku. Similarly, in the second phase, 119 women from Maredumilli, Rampachodavaram, Gurtedu, and Y. Ramavaram mandals participated in the tailoring training programme. The SP distributed 30 sewing machines to the meritorious trained women.

On the occasion, the SP said that the district police are implementing various employment and self-employment opportunities. He called upon the tribal women to make proper use of these opportunities to become economically and socially empowered, and to work towards the welfare of their families and the development of their respective regions.
