India’s Ishan Kishan in action during a T20 World Cup match | Photo Credit: Emmanual Yogini Since returning to the international fold for the T20I series against New Zealand last month, Ishan Kishan has crafted a compelling comeback arc. After bludgeoning the Kiwi attack to all parts to help India romp to a 4-1 series victory and force his way into the first-choice XI, he is now lighting up the T20 World Cup as well. His latest show of strength came against Namibia at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday (February 12, 2026) as a 24-ball 61 set up a 93-run win for the co-hosts. It is a welcome change for Kishan. Having cited mental fatigue when he requested to be released from the Indian team during the tour of South Africa in 2023, he spent the next two years on the sidelines. The 27-year-old seems to be in the right headspace now. “I think I’m a changed man now, to be honest. I don’t get into it too much, but I do enjoy jokes and everything. Earlier I used to do it 24×7, but now it’s just 2-3 hours in a day. I am just focusing more on batting and my wicket-keeping, which is going to help the team and myself. Everything else is secondary, so I am not just always joking, especially under Gauti bhai (coach Gautam Gambhir),” Kishan said. Asked about his approach to constructing a T20 innings, he explained: “I take singles as well and do defend the good balls. I’m just trying to be calm on the pitch. Sometimes you get excited and play those shots when you’re playing international cricket. I’m just trying to cut those moments off in my life.” Published – February 13, 2026 10:36 am IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
