Stalin on Friday (February 13, 2026) gave a huge surprise bonanza for women crediting a sum of ₹5,000 each into the bank accounts of 1.31 crore beneficiaries of the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme. While ₹3,000 was for the months of February, March and April (₹1,000 per month), a special summer aid of ₹2,000 has also been credited into their accounts, Mr. Stalin announced. In a social media post, Mr. Stalin also announced that the monthly rights grant under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme would be increased from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 in the Dravidian 2.0 (when the DMK government if re-elected to power in the ensuing Assembly elections.) பிப்ரவரி, மார்ச்,… pic.twitter.com/n7VrMqcrb7 — M.K.Stalin – தமிழ்நாட்டை தலைகுனிய விடமாட்டேன் (@mkstalin) February 13, 2026 Contending that “some are attempting to prevent the disbursement” of the monthly aid for three months citing the elections, Mr. Stalin said: “But, this Dravidian model government overcame it. This urimai thogai (rights grant) was an assurance made by Stalin to the women of Tamil Nadu. I will not step back whoever brought in obstacles.” The Chief Minister further expressed confidence that his party would win the election with the support of women. In a recorded video clipping, Mr. Stalin sought to explain the credit of ₹5,000 into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai was launched in September 2023 and 1.13 crore women were disbursed a sum of ₹1,000 each and the programme was since expanded to cover 1.31 crore women across the State, he said. “This is not just a grant but a recognition of the contributions these women make in the society.” The rights grant helped women look after their day-to-day expenses, family expenses, education expenses of their children, he said. Whileso, a “group in Delhi and another group in Tamil Nadu, who were slaves to the Delhi group”, there was information that a conspiracy was being hatched to stop the disbursement of this grant for three months citing elections, Mr. Stalin said. “There is information that a few are attempting to move the court…As someone from your family, I am aware as to what hardships you would undergo if the grant is suspended for three months. I can realise the pain you would undergo if the disbursement is suspended especially during summer,” he said. “How will you manage the monthly expenses? Can you get medicines for those in your family? When children are appearing for exams, can you spend for expenses incurred for their education? I have taken an important decision only after thinking through all these,” Mr. Stalin explained. “I have issued orders for disbursing a special Magalir Urimai Thogai of ₹5,000, including the monthly grant of ₹1,000 for February, March and April and a special summer aid of ₹2,000 to each of the 1.31 crore women. My request to you all is to be careful is spending this money, since this is for the next three months,” Mr. Stalin said. Expressing hope that his party would win in the ensuing Assembly elections, with the support of women Mr. Stalin announced: “In Dravidian model of governance, the urimai thogai would be increased to ₹2,000. This is the assurance given by Muthuvel Karunanidhi Stalin, who keeps his word.” Referring to some who may raise doubts as to how the government would afford to implement the increase in the monthly grant, Mr. Stalin said his government has excelled in many fronts, despite the financial crisis. “So, we will win over any obstacles.” Published – February 13, 2026 09:02 am IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
