Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually inaugurated upgraded district headquarters hospital buildings and additional buildings for hospitals at various places across the State. | Photo Credit: Special Arrangement Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Friday (February 6, 2026), via video conference from the Secretariat in Chennai, inaugurated upgraded district headquarters hospital buildings, additional buildings for hospitals, Samathuvapurams, and various office buildings across the State. Mr. Stalin inaugurated upgraded district headquarters hospitals and new buildings for other government hospitals, microbiology laboratories, Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy wings, and various urban and rural health centre buildings constructed at a total cost of ₹348.59 crore under the Health and Family Welfare Department. The upgraded district headquarters hospital buildings include those at Jayankondam, Mayiladuthurai, Aruppukottai, Kulithalai, and Kangayam, and an upgraded hospital at Rajapalayam, a mother and child welfare block at Thanjavur, and a drinking water supply scheme at Kallakurichi Government Medical College Hospital. Additional buildings for government hospitals were inaugurated at Kuthalam, Jallipatti, Pattukkottai, Cumbum, Periyakulam, Uthamapalayam, Veppur, Vridhachalam, Panruti, Gummidipoondi, Krishnapuram, Musiri, and Alangulam. A new building and microbiology laboratory at the Government Food Analysis Laboratory in Guindy in Chennai, a microbiology laboratory at the Food Analysis Laboratory in Madurai, and a Drug Control Assistant Director’s office building for the Namakkal zone, besides three urban primary health centres and five rural primary health centres, were also inaugurated. The Chief Minister also inaugurated buildings constructed at a cost of ₹289.38 crore under the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department. These include Samathuvapurams at Poovanikuppam in Cuddalore district, Kadayakudi in Pudukkottai district, Thalugai in Tiruchi district, Gurukkalpatti in Tenkasi district, Periyakolappadi in Tiruvannamalai district, and Sennilaikudi in Virudhunagar district. Additionally, he inaugurated a road from Pudupatti to Kedamalai in Namakkal district benefitting tribal people, along with various office buildings, bridges, anganwadi centres, school buildings, community halls, and fair price shops.
