With the objective of strengthening citizen-centric water governance across Tamil Nadu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday inaugurated the Tamil Nadu Integrated Drinking Water Grievance Redressal Centre – PUNAL (1916) which offers a round-the-clock service. According to an official release, the centre has been established by the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage (TWAD) Board to provide citizens with a common platform to register all drinking water-related grievances. This initiative ensures that every grievance related to drinking water availability, water quality, and supply disruptions is promptly heard and addressed. PUNAL brings together multiple departments such as the TWAD Board, Directorate of Municipal Administration, Directorate of Town Panchayats, and the Commissionerate of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj under one coordinated and integrated system. The public can now lodge a complaint, which will automatically be routed to the appropriate authority. This unified mechanism significantly reduces inter-departmental delays and ensures faster grievance redressal, the release said. Apart from the toll-free number, complaints can also be lodged online at www.punal.tn.gov.in or through the PUNAL Citizen App, the release added. Separately, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran launched an online portal that will offer various services, including Integrated Land Record and History of Patta Transfer. According to an official release, records such as the ‘A’ Register, Chitta and Field Map have already been made available online. The new Integrated Land Record service combines these three documents into a single downloadable document for the benefit of landowners. The History of Patta Transfer service allows the public to view details of patta transfers carried out online for a particular survey number.
