AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Monday alleged voters in the State were receiving phone calls asking them to vote for the DMK, and this was being done using the data collected during the Oraniyil Tamil Nadu campaign.

Mr. Palaniswami claimed phone numbers, Aadhaar details, and photographs had been collected during the campaign, and he had already warned such data could be misused to access further personal information. He said people had shared their details in good faith and urged them to remain cautious. He also accused Chief Minister M.K. Stalin of curtailing press freedom and targeting critics.
