The first phase of randomisation of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPATs) to be used in the nine Assembly constituencies in Cuddalore district for the April 23 elections was held in the presence of District Election Officer and Collector Sibi Adhithya Senthil Kumar and representatives of political parties on Monday. In the first-level checking, a total of 3,108 ballot units, 3,108 control units and 3,367 VVPATs were found to be poll ready. The exercise was undertaken by the DEO through EVM Management System. After completion of the process, the lists of EVMs and VVPATs allocated constituency-wise were shared with all the political parties. Thereafter, these EVMs and VVPATs were handed over to the Returning Officers concerned. The EVMs and VVPATs were stored in strong rooms in the respective Assembly constituencies in the presence of representatives of various political parties.
