The first session of the 34th meeting of the Synod of Bishops of the Syro-Malabar Church will begin at Mount St. Thomas in Kakkanad on January 6, 2026. It will begin with a meditation led by Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplany. The Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, Mar Raphael Thattil, will inaugurate the Synod meeting at 9 a.m. on January 7. He will also inaugurate the church’s Community Empowerment Year 2026 initiative at 5:30 p.m. on January 6. The meeting will conclude on January 10, according to a release.
