Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati, announced that a 35-year-old underprivileged patient K. Harinadh from Jagilavandlapalli village in Kalikiri mandal, Annamayya district, received treatment worth ₹18 lakh free of cost under the Sri Venkateswara Pranadana Scheme of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

Revealing the details here on Saturday (January 10, 2026), Dr. R.V. Kumar, Director-cum-Vice Chancellor of SVIMS said, “The patient, who belongs to a poor labourer family, was admitted to the Neurology Department. After multiple successful surgeries and comprehensive treatment, he recovered and got discharged today. The patient and his family members expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the TTD.”

Harinadh was diagnosed with a severe brain infection involving mucormycosis and aspergillosis, requiring complex surgical interventions related to the eyes, nose, and brain. Through a well-coordinated multi-disciplinary approach, our super-specialty experts successfully performed the necessary antifungal treatments and surgeries to eliminate the life-threatening infection, he said.

Sri Venkateswara Pranadana Scheme enables the SVIMS to deliver free treatment to poor patients. “As daily wage labourers, we could never have afforded treatment worth ₹18 lakh. We initially approached a private hospital, where we were charged ₹2.50 lakh for just one week with no improvement. But, SVIMS doctors treated with immense patience and expertise, Harinadh said.
