KHAMMAM

Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao said that a survey is being conducted expeditiously to identify the eligible homeless poor families evicted from Bhoodan land at Velugumatla in Khammam. Instructions have been issued to the District Collector to ready 10-acre government land for constructing houses for them after completion of the survey, he said.

In a statement, Mr. Rao said the government had taken legal action to remove illegal huts built on Bhoodan land at the behest of an organisation called ‘Pedala Sangham’.

“The unscrupulous organisation had collected lakhs of rupees from gullible poor people by issuing them fake pattas. These vested elements are behind the erection of huts on Bhoodan land. An inquiry is underway into the allegations of Bhoodan land irregularities based on several complaints received against an organisation involved in nefarious activities in the garb of poor people,” he said.

The minister added that the BRS leaders were trying to derive political mileage by resorting to mud-slinging against the State government.

“The Congress cadres should not get provoked by the politically motivated propaganda. They should maintain restraint and desist from filing police complaints against the misinformation campaigns on social media platforms,” he said.
