The 41st Maha Kumbhabhishekam will be organised at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam on the occasion of Mahasivaratri on Sunday (February 15), under the auspices of former Union Minister T. Subbarami Reddy.

Popularly known as TSR., Mr. Subbarami Reddy has been conducting the annual Maha Kumbhabhishekam at RK Beach for the past 40 years. The festival has been drawing thousands of devotees every year. Elaborate arrangements have been made for this year’s event, festival committee convener B. V. Ram told the media here on Friday.

Ratnala Chandrasekhar, representing Bharata Yagna Peetham, Kakinada, said that his grandfather Siva Bhaktudu had initiated the Maha Kumbhabhishekam, which is being organised by Mr. Subbarami Reddy with his personal funds. He said holy water brought from various rivers and fruit juices would be distributed to devotees participating in the ritual, which will be conducted under Mr. Subbarami Reddy’s supervision.

Devotees will be given rudrakshas, turmeric-coated threads known as pasupu thallu, and prasadam free of cost. Mr. Subbarami Reddy will take part in the Maha Kumbhabhishekam from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., followed by the homam and purnahuti in the afternoon. A spiritual meeting will be held at 5 p.m. A large number of devotees are expected to attend the festival.
