An awareness programme for students was conducted by the police at Seva Mandir Zilla Parishad High School in Parigi in Sri Sathya Sai district, on Sunday. The awareness programme focused on drug abuse, road safety, child marriages, sexual offences against children, and key provisions of the new laws.

Addressing the students, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Penukonda) Narasingappa said the programme was organised to sensitise students through visual flex displays illustrating real-life consequences of drug abuse, crime, and traffic violations.

The police officer urged students to stay away from harmful habits and follow a disciplined and responsible path in life. He explained how involvement in criminal activities impacted individuals and their families. Special emphasis was laid on the health risks and life-altering impact of drug addiction.

Students were also educated on road safety, with a strong focus on helmet usage and the dangers of reckless driving. Officials explained how violations often lead to fatal accidents.

The Deputy SP cautioned that sexual offences against children attract stringent punishment under the POCSO Act and urged students to respect the law and personal boundaries.

Senior officials from the Revenue, ICDS, and Education departments were present.
