Government school students will get ₹1, 000 as financial assistance every academic year for the purchase of school bag and shoes in the Union Territory, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy said here on Tuesday. Participating in an event along with Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan to provide cash award to sports personalities and coaches, the Chief Minister said the Education Department had been providing free school bag and shoes to the students after the NDA government came to power in the Union Territory.
