Students of Kumaraguru Institutions, Coimbatore, on Friday unveiled their hydrogen fuel-cell-powered vehicle, developed at a total cost ₹42 lakh.

Built by Team ReNew, which comprises 14 students, the vehicle is designed for improved aerodynamics and is said to be made of sustainable materials such as basalt fibre-PVC foam composite structures. The team claims that this helps to achieve higher strength, reduced weight, and improved sustainability.

Team ReNew will be taking part in the Shell Eco Marathon for the third consecutive time. The Marathon is set to happen in Qatar, between January 21 and 25. The team will be competing with their upgraded model, ReNew 3.0, weighing 21 kg less than their first model, developed in 2024. The vehicle was developed in 10 months.

The vehicle was unveiled in the presence of Kuruchi Kumar, technical advisor, Propel EV, and Shankar Vanavarayar, president of Kumaraguru Institutions. The Kumaraguru Institutions is rooting for the success of Team ReNew led by captain Karthik and driver Shobika.
