Image used for representation Several students sustained injuries after a bus overturned near Kallambalam in the district around 3.30 a.m. on Saturday (January 17, 2026). The students, from a private engineering college in Thrissur district, were reportedly on their way to the Vizhinjam port as part of a study tour. There were around 42 students in the bus. From the service road of the national highway, the bus crashed into the compound of a house and fell on its side. The injured, which include the crew of the bus, have been rushed to the Medical College Hospital at Paripally and a nearby private hospital.
