The Government Railway Police (GRP) have intensified their search for the suspect involved in throwing stones at an undergraduate student travelling on the Alappuzha-Kannur Executive Express. CCTV visuals from various locations have been gathered as part of the probe into the incident, which took place near Feroke in Kozhikode on March 30, 2026.

Aishwarya Ramakrishnan, a native of Vadakara, sustained severe facial injuries and lost three teeth in the late evening attack. Police sources said her jaw was also fractured. She later underwent surgery at a private hospital in Kozhikode. The incident occurred around 9 p.m. while the 22-year-old student of Union Christian College, Aluva, was returning home.

The sources said a case had been registered under Sections 118(1) (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 327(1) (punishment for mischief with intent to destroy or make a railway unsafe), and 329(3) (punishment for criminal trespass) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They added that a similar incident targeting passengers of the Vande Bharat Express was also under investigation.
