Striking contract teachers launch two-day sit-in protest

The striking contract teachers on Monday launched a two-day continuous sit-in protest near the Legislative Assembly demanding regularisation of their service. Around 292 contract teachers are on strike for the last several days to press for their demand. They began the strike by launching a continuous protest inside the Education Department Office last month. 

Opposition leader and DMK Puducherry convenor R. Siva visited the protest venue near the Assembly and extended support to the demand raised by the teachers. He criticised the government for not adhering to the commitment given to the contract teachers on regularisation of their services.
