Belagavi District Police are taking steps to ensure peaceful Holi celebrations across the district.

Police officers held meetings in various villages with leaders from Hindu and Muslim organisations to ensure that Ramzan prayers and Holi processions are conducted peacefully.

Officers held meetings in Belagavi that celebrates Holi in public places. Heavy police security arrangements are being made in places like Vaccine Depot and Lele Grounds where public celebrations are planned on two different days.

Police Commissioner Borase Bhushan Gulabrao has urged the people to celebrate the festival with care and caution and in a way that it does not inconvenience the examination-going students.

He urged youth to obtain permission for the use of sound systems and remain cautious during Kam Dahan. He urged the people to use natural colours.

He warned revellers not to get intoxicated or use weapons. He said that over 1,000 police personnel and officers and 250 Home Guards, seven KSRP platoons, 10 units of CAR, SDRF, Fire and Emergency Services officers are on duty.

Check-posts have been put up in 19 places for vigilance and 500 CCTV cameras, body cams and handicams are being used.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan has banned the sale, transportation and purchase of liqour during Holi celebrations.
