Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology N.S. Boseraju has said that the State government is working on eradicating unemployment by organising Udyog Mela (job fairs).

He was addressing the candidates after inaugurating a Udyog Mela on the second day of the three-day Raichur Zilla Utsav 2026, jointly organised by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Skill Development Department, Karnataka State Rural Livelihood Development Organisation, and District Skill Mission at the University of Agriculture Sciences (UAS) in Raichur on Friday.

The State government has introduced the Yuva Nidhi scheme to extend helping hands to the unemployed youths across the State by providing them the unemployment allowances, he said.

He further said, apart from unemployment allowances, the State has also planned to organise the mela often in enhanced mode to ensure jobs for unemployed youths to strengthen their future.

MP G. Kumar Naik said that the State government emphasised providing necessary skill training to the youths based on their education to make them eligible to get jobs. “India has more human resources than any country in the world. The government should utilise such youth power,” he added.

Chairman of Karnataka ST Development Corporation and MLA Basanagowda Daddal said that the government is set to establish a textile park on 4,000 acres of land in Raichur, under the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB).

He has expressed confidence that high numbers of unemployed youths would get jobs in this Udyog Mela.

More than 63 different companies participated in the Udyog Mela. As many as 1,200 candidates got selected based on their educational qualifications.

CEO Eshwar Kumar Kandoo, Chief Planning Officer T. Roni, Employment Officer Naveen Kumar, Skill Development Officer G.U. Huded, and others were present.
