A State-level meeting on preparations for the Census of India-2027 will be organised on February 20 at the Secretariat in Amaravati under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand. It will focus on various aspects, including planning, coordination mechanisms and training arrangements. Discussions will cover finalisation of the master trainers and field trainers, as well as the organisation of three-day training programmes for the District Census Officers and Charge Officers. Members of the State-Level Census Coordination Committee and District Collectors, who will serve as District Census Officers, have been directed to attend the meeting. Each district has also been instructed to depute either a Joint Collector or an officer of the rank of DRO to participate in the deliberations. Municipal Commissioners functioning as Principal Census Officers in various Municipal Corporations have been asked to attend along with an Additional Commissioner or Deputy Commissioner-level officer. Secretaries of departments concerned, officials from the Office of the Registrar-General and Census Commissioner, and other senior officers will also take part in the meeting. The Chief Secretary has directed all the District Collectors to come prepared with comprehensive information on preliminary arrangements and readiness in their respective districts to ensure smooth conduct of the census exercise.
