SST seize 75 sovereigns of gold jewellery in Paramakudi

A Static Surveillance Team (SST) in Paramakudi Assembly Constituency here on Sunday seized 75 sovereigns of gold jewellery and ₹70,000 in cash, transported without valid documents.

During a vehicle inspection near Kamuthi by the SST team led by officer Chandrasekaran, 75 sovereigns of gold jewellery valued at ₹81 lakh were seized from Sasirekha, a resident of Mani Nagar, Paramakudi, for lack of proper documentation.

The seized jewellery was subsequently handed over to the Paramakudi Sub-Treasury.

Similarly, during a vehicle check at Devipattinam in the Thiruvadanai Assembly Constituency, the SST found Sekar carrying ₹70,000 in his car without valid documents.

The team seized the cash and deposited it in the treasury, advising him to retrieve the money after providing the necessary supporting documents.
