The management of Sri Bhramaramba Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, Srisailam will be organizing mass ‘Bhogi Pallu’ for children on the Bhogi day on January 14 (Wednesday) this year. Bhogi Pallu is a festive ritual where elders shower young children with a mix of fruits (like jujubes, gooseberries, sugarcane pieces) as blessings, and protection from evil spirits. Srisailam temple Executive Officer M. Srinivasa Rao said the temple is organizing the ritual as part of protecting Sanatana Dharma and the ritual will be conducted for children of five years of age at the Akkamaha Devi Alankara Mandapam at 10 a.m. Those who want their children’s participation in the ritual should enroll at the Public Relations Wing at the Administrative Building of the temple before 5 p.m. of January 13. Similarly, the temple management is conducting Rangoli competitions for women on the occasion of Sankranti Brahmotsavams on Sankranti day (January 15). Those who want to participate can enroll at the Public Relations Wing at the Administrative Building of the temple before 5 p.m. of January 14. The competitions will be held from 7.30 a.m. on the temple South Mada Street.
