Sringeri Sri Sarada Peetham’s junior pontiff Sri Vidhusekhara Bharathi Swamy visited the National Sanskrit University campus here on Sunday and inaugurated a Veda Sabha(Vedic assembly).

The pontiff has been camping in the district for the past five days, participating in several Vedic rituals in Tirumala and Tirupati.

On his arrival, the entourage was accorded a ceremonial reception by the varsity team led by Vice-Chancellor G. S. R. Krishnamurthi, who explained the university’s role in preserving the shastras contained in ancient scriptures.

The pontiff hailed the NSU, a Central university, as a pioneer in Sanskrit studies and teaching that has produced many distinguished scholars. He advised the students to disseminate the knowledge gained here and spread the glory of Indian Dharma for global well-being.

Swamiji also suggested that scholars explain Dharmic subjects to the common public in simple language that can be easily understood, so that piety may spread among people.

The Vedic assembly was conducted by Prof. Niranjan Mishra, Head of the Veda Bhashya Department, while Prof. Kuppa Viswanatham of the Nyaya Department moderated the session.
