Participating in a review meeting at the temple in Srikalahasti town ahead of the grand festival that runs concurrent with ‘Mahasivaratri’, the Minister said that the primary goal of the event administrators would be to follow the Agamic principles and adhere to the norms, in letter and spirit, as stipulated in the doctrines of Sanatana Dharma. “The State government has decided to conduct the event in a spectacular manner in Srikalahasti, which is one of the major Saivite temples in Andhra Pradesh. The grandeur will not, however, come in the way of religiously observing the doctrine of worship,” the Minister said. Keeping in view the heavy rush expected to converge at the temple during the festival, Mr. Reddy said that two special darshan queues would be allowed with an entry ticket of ₹200 and ₹500, while the free queue line will also be available for the common pilgrims. Principal Secretary (Endowments) Hari Jawaharlal said that more volunteers would be roped in this time to help manage the queue lines and serve the visiting pilgrims, while Collector S. Venkateswar assured that the scale of celebration would certainly get bigger than last year. Srikalahasti MLA Bojjala Venkata Sudheer Reddy offered to distribute pocket calendars and ‘mini Pasupu Kunkuma Prasadam’ to every devotee visiting the shrine during the event. Endowments Commissioner Ramachandra Mohan announced that steps would be taken to popularise the event in the other States. Superintendent of Police L. Subbarayudu said that the entire temple area would be brought into the CCTV network and surveillance enhanced through command control, in order to prevent any untoward incident. Temple trust board chairman Kotte Saiprasad and Executive Officer T. Bapi Reddy took part.
