Balachandar As many as 10 fishermen from Tamil Nadu were detained by the Sri Lankan Navy on Monday (January 12, 2026) night on charges of crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). The fishermen had set out from the Rameswaram fishing jetty in a mechanised trawler owned by M. Thennarasu on Monday. They were intercepted by the Sri Lankan Navy in the middle of the sea for allegedly crossing the IMBL. After interrogation, the fishermen, along with their boat, were detained by the Navy personnel. The detained individuals have been identified as: J. George Toki, 40, and J. Arockia Rubat, 42, of Pamban; J. Sudhan, 42, a resident of the Mandapam Refugee Camp; M. Kanagaraj, 25, of Tiruchi; S. Sumith, 38, of Ramanathapuram; M. Paralogaraj, 35, of Thangachimadam; S. Dinesh, 35, of Uchipuli; and K. Gopi, 27, Rajesh, and R. Prem Kumar, 35, of Rameswaram.
