Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV) will honour Sashikala Sinha, a senior scientist at the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO-Hyderabad), at its 22nd annual convocation scheduled for Saturday. Known for her contributions to the country’s Ballistic Missile Defence (BMD) programme, Ms. Sinha has served as the Project Director of Endo-Atmospheric Interceptor Missile Advanced Area Defence (AAD) programme, considered a critical component of India’s indigenous missile shield. She specialises in the development of flight vehicles, RF seekers, radomes and radar cross-sections. Addressing a media conference here on Friday (March 6), SPMVV Vice-Chancellor Uma Vennam said the Chancellor and Governor S. Abdul Nazeer would confer the honoris causa (D.Sc) degree on Ms. Sinha. As many as 2,591 candidates will receive their Ph.D., M.Phil, postgraduate (regular and distance mode), undergraduate (regular and distance mode) degrees this year. Registrar R. Usha and Dean of Examinations K. Anuradha also took part in the media conference.
