The State Platform for Common School System- Tamil Nadu (SPCSS- TN) has appealed to the voters of Puducherry to back the candidates of Left Parties for the April 9 polls in the Union Territory.

Members of the SPCSS- TN on Sunday campaigned for the CPI (M) candidate at Lawspet constituency. The members decided to campaign for CPI (M) candidate in Lawspet because of the presence of several educational institutions in the constituency.

General secretary of SPCSS- TN P.B. Prince Gajendra Babu said the people of Lawspet have an opportunity to oppose the Viksit Bharat Shiksha Adhishthan (VBSA) Bill, 2025. The Bill gives power to the Central Government to regulate universities and colleges across the country. Teachers and students will lose their academic freedom, he said in a statement.

“By voting for the CPI, CPI (M) and Left-supported Independent, the people of Puducherry could send a strong message to the government. A vote in favour of the Left party candidate will help in opposing the VBSA Bill,” he said.

Actress Rohini also campaigned for the CPI (M) candidate from Lawspet R. Rajangam. She appealed to the people of the constituency to vote for the CPI M candidate.
