Addressing the SPA meeting held in Palayamkottai on Wednesday night, Ms. Kanimozhi said poll predictions were being done by a few media based on the crowd gathering for election rallies of a few leaders and cacophonic election campaigns by a few others from Delhi. However, the people of Tamil Nadu, who were fully aware of these empty rhetoric, were very clear that the DMK alone could transform its poll promise into action after enjoying the 5-year-long “impeccable governance” by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. While sustained efforts were being made by the BJP and its allies to divide the people on religious grounds, the DMK and its allies alone had the energy and resolve to thwart all these sinister designs as communalism and religious extremism would ruin the State’s progress. Ms. Kanimozhi said the SPA MPs alone had resisted in the Parliament the BJP’s sustained attempts to snatch away the State’s rights, refuse to release funds to Tamil Nadu, undermine secularism etc., which should go at the earliest. Hence, the victory in Tamil Nadu in the upcoming Assembly polls alone could sow the seeds of faith in change at the Centre, for which every SPA cadre should work hard, she appealed. Referring to the delay in finalizing the seat sharing talks, Ms. Kanimozhi said it was like every member of a family trying to get their due share, which would certainly consume substantial time. “At the same time, when Tamil Nadu faces challenges and serious threats from the religious fanatics, every member of this family led by the DMK unitedly take on the fascist forces and the people only trust the DMK as their saviour,” she said.
