Emphasising the importance of innovation, Superintendent of Police (SP) P. Jagadeesh praised the young students for thinking in ways that solve complex societal problems instead of studying merely for degrees.

Mr. Jagadeesh attended the grand finale of the Anantapur Police AI Hackathon 2026 held at Anantapur police conference hall on Sunday. Addressing a gathering after handing over prizes to the winners, he said the AI-based bandobust management applications developed by students can bring revolutionary changes to future policing.

“Initiatives like interactive AI robots for receiving complaints and multilingual portals help bridge the gap between the police and the public. Technology should not just be a mere tool but a protective shield for the common citizen,” he said.

He said that with the rise in cybercrimes, the police department needs young innovators to combat such challenges and assured the students that they are ready to implement their ideas at the ground level.

As part of the hackathon, students presented solutions on complex topics such as Cyber Fraud Money Trail Intelligence System, AI Voice Robo for FIR Data Collection, Smart Bandobust Duty Monitoring System, AI-Based Dynamic Police Patrol Optimisation System, and Smart Election Patrol and Incident Response System.

The jury evaluated all projects and selected the top 10 teams for their outstanding performance. The winners were awarded cash prizes and certificates by the SP. The event was attended by trainee IPS officer Ashwin Manideep and other police officials.
