Sowmiya Anbumani files nomination – The Hindu

Sowmiya Anbumani, president of Pasumai Thayagam, filed her nominations to contest in the Dharmapuri Assembly constituency on Pattali Makkal Katchi’s ticket, on Monday. Ms. Sowmiya arrived with much fanfare marching alongside hundreds of party cadre. She was accompanied by the incumbent MLA of Dharmapuri constituency, S.P. Venkateswaran. This is the second time Ms. Sowmiya is filing her nominations — once before in 2024 Parliamentary elections for Dharmapuri Lok Sabha constituency in which she came a close second.

Tamizhaga Vaazhvurimai Katchi candidate Vijayalakshmi filed her nominations with the returning officer to contest in the Krishnagiri Assembly constituency. Ms. Vijayalakshmi is the wife of slain forest brigand Veerappan. In 2024, Veerappan’s daughter Vidhya Rani contested unsuccessfully in the Lok Sabha elections for Krishnagiri constituency under the Naam Tamilar Katchi ticket.
