Social Welfare Department officer dies at his office in Tumakuru, alleges harassment by senior in a video

An Assistant Director of the Social Welfare Department from Tumakuru allegedly ended his life at the office in which he worked in Pavagada on Friday, after recording a video alleging harassment by his senior officer.

The deceased has been identified as Mallikarjunaiah G.E., a native of Gundarlahalli near Pavagada. The police have booked Krishnappa, Joint Director of the Social Welfare Department, Tumakuru, the senior officer named by Mallikarjunaiah in the video, under Section 108 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, for abetment to suicide.
