The Forest Department of Karnataka captured a sloth bear that had been seen roaming around Shivamogga airport.

The bear was spotted roaming in villages adjacent to the airport at Sogane near Shivamogga. The local people, who spotted the wild animal, informed the police and the Forest Department. They captured the animal’s movements in photos and videos. They claimed that the animal had crossed the compound wall of the airport.

On March 30, officials of the Forest Department succeeded in capturing the bear after sedating the animal with a tranquilliser dart. The operation to capture the animal went on for about two hours.
