The specialised treatments given at Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital to six underweight neonatal babies have tremendously improved their health. According to Dean, TVMCH, C. Revathi Balan, around 100 low birth weight newborn babies – between 500 gram to 1.50 Kg – are under specialised treatment in the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health section of TVMCH. After the babies gained desirable weight, they are shifted to the Well Baby Clinic in TVMCH for continued monitoring and medical treatment, where the babies are screened for healthy eyes and ears.
