Six persons were arrested on Wednesday for allegedly procuring and selling adulterated and unhygienic paneer and dairy products in Secunderabad. In another case, two persons were arrested for running an illegal pickle manufacturing unit in Jiyaguda. In the first case, the accused were identified as Jaipal Singh Rajpurohit, Kolariya Vaibhav, Naresh Kolariya, Prem Anil Vyas, Ram Kishore Kolariya and Laxmi Narayana Kolariya. According to officials, sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force, Khairatabad Zone, along with a food safety officer, conducted a surprise inspection near Ganj Bazaar, close to Mahankali Temple. During the raid, six wholesale and retail outlets were inspected and the accused were found allegedly procuring paneer and other dairy products from unknown sources and selling them in bulk to hotels, catering services and local shops. Officials said the products were stored in open plastic covers and exposed to dust, flies and other contaminants, making them unfit for consumption. The items reportedly lacked basic labelling details such as brand name, manufacturing date and expiry date, and no pest control records were maintained. A total of 3,892 kg of dairy products, including paneer, khoa, white cream, ghee and kalakand, valued at about ₹11.1 lakh, were seized during the operation. The accused and the seized material were handed over to the Mahankali police station for further action. In a separate case, Kulsumpura police arrested two persons for operating an adulterated pickle manufacturing unit in Jiyaguda. The accused were identified as N. Narsimha, 54, and N. Naresh, 45, both residents of Jiyaguda. Police said the unit was discovered during patrolling at a godown in Venkateshwara Nagar, where the accused were found preparing pickles in unhygienic conditions using spoiled vegetables and low quality raw materials. The products were allegedly being sold to local shops at low prices. Police seized 72 drums of various pickles, six drums of tomato and tamarind paste, a drum of ginger garlic paste and a weighing machine from the premises. A case was registered at Kulsumpura police station under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and further investigation is underway.
