But, he said that he personally believes and practices in the idea that God exists everywhere. Mr. Siddaramaiah recalled that he had been visiting Dandimaramma temple since his childhood and said he was of the view that God should not be remembered only during difficult times, but should be remembered under all circumstances. The Chief Minister also pointed out that he was of the view that ‘God is one, but is known by many names’. “God exists everywhere, including within us. The important thing is to wish well for everyone. No religion or caste teaches hatred. They all preach love,” he said. Mr. Siddaramaiah said one can become the Chief Minister only with the blessings of the people. Recalling his political journey, Mr. Siddaramaiah said he received the blessings of the people of the area when he first contested the Taluk Board elections in 1978. Later, the support of the people continued in the Assembly elections also. He said he had won eight elections so far with the blessings of people of Chamundeshwari and Varuna assembly constituencies in Mysuru, which has even enabled him to become the Chief Minister. Mr. Siddaramaiah said he had come to inaugurate the temple because of the affection shown by the people of Pillahalli and expressed confidence of receiving the support of people from the region in the future also. Pointing out that his mission as the Chief Minister was to empower the poor and the weak in the society, Mr. Siddaramaiah said the Government’s schemes were aimed at establishing social equality. People of all castes, religions, and communities must gain economic and social strength, he said. “My objective is to empower the poor and the weak in society. Social justice can be achieved only when benefits reach the last person in society,” he added.
