The Shivamogga district administration has made necessary arrangements to conduct the II PU examinations, scheduled to be held between February 28 and March 17, in the district, said Deputy Commissioner Prabhulinga Kavalikatti.

Speaking to reporters in Shivamogga on Tuesday, Mr. Kavalikatti stated that the exams would be held at 41 centers in the district, including 17 in Shivamogga taluk. A total of 19,009 students, including 871 repeaters, would be appearing for the exams. The administration has constituted 12 teams to distribute question papers along 12 different routes. Each team will include a tahsildar and principals.

The DC said that he would impose prohibitory orders within a 200-meter radius of all centres in accordance with Section 163 of the BNSS. The room supervisors had received proper training. The students appearing for the examinations could avail themselves of the free transport facility.

Zilla Panchayat CEO N. Hemanth stated that last year, Shivamogga district ranked seventh in the II PU results. “We are hopeful of improving the results this year. II PU is a crucial stage in the lives of students. The teachers have conducted preparatory exams to boost students’ confidence and have taken special classes wherever necessary. The objective is to ensure that all our students pass and secure prominent positions in life,” he said.

In response to a question about students being put under pressure by being forced to attend special classes until late in the evening and even on holidays, Mr. Hemanth stated that the teachers conducted these classes with the consent of the parents. “In fact, parents insisted that the teachers hold classes, as children do not study at home. The parents mentioned that children spend their time watching television and using mobile devices. We have taken measures to ensure that the students concentrate on their studies,” he said

Further, the officer made it clear that the PU Department had taken steps to ensure that question papers are not leaked. “I wish to convey to the students that no question paper will be leaked. There could be some miscreants who might frame their own question papers based on five or six model question papers to mislead the students. The students should not be swayed by such papers,” he stated.
