Sharnbasva University has been conferred with the prestigious P.P. Malhotra Memorial Award for Best University by the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE), recognising its excellence at the national level.

The award was formally presented by IETE president Sunil to Chancellor Dakshayini Avvaji at the inauguration of the IETE South Zone Seminar and ISF Congress held on the university’s main campus in Kalaburagi on Saturday.

Accepting the honour, Ms. Avvaji said the award had earlier been received by Sangha Secretary Basavaraj Deshmukh at the IETE annual convention, and thanked the organisation for presenting it again at the university. She dedicated the recognition to the founder Chancellor, late Sharanbaswappa Appaji, describing it as a tribute to his lifelong efforts in building educational institutions under the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardak Sangha.

“This recognition is the result of Mr. Appaji’s vision and dedication. It is, in many ways, a lifetime achievement award for him,” she said.

Ms. Avvaji said such honours bring greater responsibility to strengthen the institutions and realise the vision of developing Sharnbasva University into one of the top 100 universities in the world.

She called upon students to focus more on research and innovation, noting that IETE had honoured several students and institutions for excellence in research, paper presentations and poster presentations during the event.

The university felicitated IETE office-bearers on the occasion. Awards were also presented to students and colleges for outstanding contributions in research and development activities.

Registrar of Sharnbasva University, who is also chairman of the IETE Kalaburagi Centre, welcomed the gathering. Among those present were Sangha secretary Basavaraj Deshmukh, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Anilkumar Bidve, Registrar (Evaluation) S.H. Honnalli, Dean Shivkumar Jewalgi, finance officer Kiran Maka, dean (Research) Sujata Mallapur and others.
