Third International Conference on Integrated Intelligence and Communication being inaugurated at Sharnbasva University in Kalaburagi on February 20. | Photo Credit: SPECIAL ARRANGEMENT Participating in high-level academic conferences sharpens the minds of scholars and enhances their research capabilities, said Basavaraj Deshmukh, secretary of the Sharnbasaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha and Member of the Board of Governors of Sharnbasva University, on February 20. He was speaking after inaugurating the two-day Third International Conference on Integrated Intelligence and Communication, organised by Sharnbasva University in association with Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) as a technical co-sponsor, at the university’s main campus in Kalaburagi. Mr. Deshmukh said that it is heartening to note that over 230 delegates from across the country are participating in the conference, which features multiple technical sessions over two days. Recalling the vision of Sharnbaswappa Appaji, the eighth Mahadasoha Peetadhipathi of the Sharnbasaveshwar Samasthan and the founder-chancellor of the university, Mr. Deshmukh said Mr. Appaji had always emphasised the importance of organising and participating in academic conferences. He encouraged faculty members and teaching staff of institutions run by the sangha to actively take part in scholarly deliberations both within and outside the State. Mr. Deshmukh noted that integrated intelligence and communication systems is an emerging field with vast research potential. The discussions and research papers presented at the conference, he said, will significantly enrich the knowledge of students and budding researchers. D.C. Shubhangi, regional director of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) Centre for PG Studies in Kalaburagi, observed that Mr. Appaji had been instrumental in establishing IEEE connectivity across Kalyana Karnataka through Sharnbasva University. She advised young researchers to focus on real-time societal problems in their research and adopt cross-platform approaches to ensure broader impact and effectiveness. Presiding over the function, Vice-Chancellor Anilkumar Bidve congratulated registrar Lakshmi Patil Maka and her team for successfully organising the international conference. He said the response from scholars had been unprecedented, with over 1,600 research papers submitted from India and abroad, of which 235 were accepted after rigorous review. He also remarked that students attending the conference are fortunate to be part of such high-level academic deliberations. Ms. Maka, who was also the steering committee chairperson, introduced the theme and objectives of the conference. Keynote speakers include Rodolfo Oliveira, senior researcher at the Institute of Telecommunications, Lisbon, Portugal, Dinesh Singh from IIT Mandi, and K.L. Hemalatha from Sri Krishna Institute of Technology, Bengaluru. Shivkumar Javaligi, dean and conference chairperson, Sujata V. Mallapur, dean (research) and conference co-chairperson, and other senior officials of the university were present.
