Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Y. S. Sharmila on Saturday strongly condemned the alleged attacks on party offices at several places across the State by activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha.

In a post on X, she said, “The BJP has become synonymous with violence. Just because an incident occurred in Delhi, does it justify attacks on party offices on the streets of Andhra Pradesh? What kind of democracy is this? What sort of atrocity is this?”

Describing the incidents as “cowardly acts”, she alleged that BJP workers had targeted Congress offices and termed the attacks a direct assault on democratic values. “We strongly condemn this misconduct and warn that the BJP will have to pay a heavy price in the people’s court,” she said.

Ms. Sharmila further alleged that the BJP was trampling upon the right to question and dissent. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s RSS-style rule, expressing dissent has become a crime. Targeting the Opposition only harms the nation’s reputation,” she said, while urging Congress cadres to “peacefully resist the actions of religious extremists.”
