The action followed a raid conducted shortly after midnight at Safal Nirvana Greens near Sanand, where a Mumbai-based man had organised a party to mark his brother-in-law’s 25th wedding anniversary, officials said. The gathering was held at a villa owned by one of the organiser’s friends and was attended by close associates, including men and women. Gujarat enforces a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcohol. Ahmedabad Rural Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat told The Hindu that 81 persons were found at the venue. “While 43 male attendees were arrested, 38 women were detained and later released after being served notices,” he said. During the raid, police seized liquor bottles, hookahs, cars, and mobile phones collectively valued at ₹2.3 crore. The seized items included 15 bottles of liquor, 10 hookahs, 22 cars, and 74 mobile phones. Blood samples of all attendees have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory to test for alcohol and drug consumption. If the presence of narcotic substances is detected, additional charges will be invoked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the police said. A case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Gujarat Prohibition Act, and further investigation is underway.
