Seven persons were injured when a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) bus and a private bus collided near Perundurai in Erode on Wednesday (February 18, 2026). The police said the government bus was proceeding from Coimbatore to Erode. When it reached the Vaikkal Medu area near Perundurai, white line marking work was under way and road workers were engaged in the task. Owing to the ongoing work, the government bus was moving slowly. At that time, a private bus travelling from Tiruppur towards Erode reportedly rammed into the rear of the government bus. The impact shattered the front windshield of the private bus. Seven passengers travelling in the private bus sustained injuries in the accident. The sudden collision caused panic among passengers and created a brief commotion at the spot. The injured were rescued and admitted to the Government Erode Medical College Hospital at Perundurai for treatment. The Perundurai Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the accident.
