At least seven people were injured after a train derailed in Russia’s region of Ulyanovsk, Russian news agencies reported on Friday (April 3, 2026) quoting local authorities.

Seven carriages of the train went off the rails in the region around 900 kilometres east of Moscow. 

The train was travelling from the city of Chelyabinsk in the Urals to Moscow, the regional governor said. Television images showed train carriages lying on their side.

“According to preliminary information, seven people including a child were injured,” news agencies quoted the local branch of the Russian health ministry as saying.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known.
