Seven college students were arrested by Brahmapuram police near Katpadi in Vellore on Tuesday for possession of 490 grams of ganja and 53 narcotic tablets (Tapentadol). Police said that the arrested persons were engineering college students in the area. They were nabbed during a surprise check at a private students’ mansion in Brahmapuram village that falls under Vellore Corporation limits. On searching the rooms, the team found the contraband and seized ganja, narcotic tablets and a weighing machine. The arrested students told the police that they got the consignment from Mumbai-based pharmacies through courier. A case has been registered and further investigation is under way.
