Residents of the Pookollai area in 47th Ward of Thanjavur Corporation have opposed the setting up of a sewage collection tank at a park developed under the Union Government’s Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) scheme in 2017.

In a memorandum to the Commissioner, Kannan, the residents pointed out that the park at Srinagar Cooperative Colony was developed at a cost of ₹27 lakh under AMRUT scheme and was used by residents of Srinagar Cooperative Colony, ARS Nagar and nearby localities for walking by elders and as a play area by the children.

Setting up a sewage collection tank at the park site was unacceptable, they pointed out and urged the civic body to halt the project and shift the same to a different locality.
