India cannot keep depending on foreign shipping line for trade and has to create a maritime ecosystem to take leadership in the sector, Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal said on Monday. In a conversation with The Hindu, Mr. Sonowal spoke about India’s push towards green shipping fuels, shipbuilding expansion, container manufacturing and progress of the Sagarmala projects that aims at enhancing infrastructure related to port-led industrialisation, coastal community development, and inland waterways.
