Security arrangements have been intensified across the district in the run-up to the Assembly elections, with the police and Central armed forces stepping up preventive measures in sensitive areas.

As part of efforts to ensure peace in vulnerable regions, joint teams are conducting visits to critical polling stations and carrying out route marches. According to officials, the initiative is aimed at boosting public confidence and deterring potential law-and-order issues.

So far, a total of 16 route marches have been conducted within the Kozhikode city limits, while 48 such exercises have been held in rural areas. In Kozhikode city, the route marches mostly covered the sensitive areas located close to Marad, Payyanakkal and Chemmangad regions.

In rural areas, the route marches mostly covered sensitive areas within the limits of Peruvannamuzhi, Koorachundu and Kakkoor police stations. Officials said the presence of station house officers, principal sub inspectors, and station mobile units were ensured during the marches ahead of the comprehensive security deployment.
