S. Manjunath Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said that the much anticipated second phase work of Mangaluru Central Prison, coming up near Mudipu, will be taken up during 2026-27. The State Government took up building new prison, as the present Mangaluru District prison had become overcrowded and incidents of fights between inmates, attacks on personnel, murder of an inmate were reported.
