The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is poised to announce its list of candidates for the coming Assembly elections as soon as the elections are declared, front convener T.P. Ramakrishnan has said. Speaking at a press conference here on Wednesday, he said seat-sharing talks with the front partners had progressed well, although some adjustments would have to be made at various places. “The organisational work for ensuring the LDF’s victory in the elections is ongoing. The response of the public during the house visits has been encouraging. The LDF government has kept all its promises and earned the trust of the general public. The front is certain to get a continuous term in power to address the remaining issues too,” he said. The LDF has formed a subcommittee headed by former Finance Minister T.M.Thomas Isaac to prepare the election manifesto. Regarding Communist Party of India (Marxist) veteran and former Minister G. Sudhakaran’s comment that he had not applied for membership scrutiny, Mr. Ramakrishnan said the process for membership scrutiny was yet to be completed. “It is an organisational issue of the CPI(M). Every member has the right to renew or not to renew the membership. However, those who are not in active membership are not considered renegades,” he said. Mr. Ramakrishnan said the LDF would organise three major rallies across the State in protest against the U.S.-Israel imperialist attack on Iran. The first rally will be held at the Muthalakkulam grounds in Kozhikode on March 6, the second one at Marine Drive in Ernakulam on March 7, and the final one at Nayanar Park in Thiruvananthapuram on March 8.
